New: Sketch Effect — Turn Photos & Line Art into Pencil-Style SVGs

We’ve just shipped the biggest quality upgrade to the converter in years — built directly from your feedback. Two things are new: a Sketch effect that turns any image into a clean pencil-style drawing, and a much sharper tracing engine for fine line art, blueprints and small text.

New: the Sketch effect

Pick Silhouette as the image type and tick the new Sketch checkbox in its corner. The converter runs an edge-detection pass (the same one behind our sister tool, VectorDad’s Photo to Sketch converter) before tracing — so photos, logos and scans come out as confident, hand-drawn-style strokes instead of flat fills.

The result downloads as a true SVG: infinitely scalable, editable shape-by-shape in Illustrator or Inkscape, and ready for Cricut and laser cutting. It’s a lovely way to make coloring pages, tracing templates, engraving artwork and portrait line art — free, no signup, and your image never leaves your device.

Much sharper line art, blueprints and small text

A few of you told us — in reviews and by email — that fine line art was coming out smudged: hatching merged into blobs, long thin lines broke into dashes, and small blueprint text became unreadable. You were right, and we rebuilt that part of the engine.

Line art is now traced at up to a 3000-pixel working resolution by default, thin strokes survive intact, and low-contrast drawings (pencil on grey paper, scanned blueprints) no longer flood to black in Silhouette mode.

Upload any image at pngtosvg.com (or the JPG to SVG page), choose Silhouette, and toggle Sketch on or off to compare — the preview updates live. Everything is free and runs entirely in your browser.
